Relining and Adjustment of Dentures for a Perfect Fit

No matter how well your dentures have been made, they will need occasional relining or adjustment to ensure a perfect fit over the years. This is one of the most common issues contributing to loose or ill-fitting dentures. Relining will only change the fitting surface of your denture, not its appearance. This can be a minor adjustment, or a more extensive alteration, depending on how much your mouth has changed shape over time.

Soft and Hard Relines for a Perfect Fit

A reline involves adding new base material to the tissue side of a denture so that it fits appropriately, just like a new denture. We offer both soft and hard relines. These options will be explained/discussed with you at your consultation.

Several things can affect the fitting surface of your denture to change.

Some common reasons are;

Change in mouth and gums because of old age, weight changes, or a medical condition.
You have had an immediate denture, and your mouth has completed healing.
Normal wear and tear.

Denture Adjustments

Are all part of the process of getting new dentures or are sometimes needed with more complex repairs. Although some patients may not need any adjustment after getting a new denture, others may need 3 or 4. Everyone’s dental journey will be different, and our team is here to help you through that process.
